Sione E. Pauni is an autodidact whose intellectual foundation was forged not in lecture halls, but within the carceral system. A writer, philosopher, and former hustler, his perspective is shaped by the unvarnished reality of a felony record and the transformative power of self-directed study. Today, he operates at the intersection of human services and high-level theory. As a Certified Peer Support Specialist and ACRE Employment Specialist, he translates his history of resilience into actionable systems for others, notably through his development of Kanzeon Staffing Group.
He is the creator of three distinct works:
Somatic Brutalism This debut collection of selected poems, written between 2025 and 2026, navigates the intersections of physical confinement and resilience. Grounded in a rigorous Zen framework, the poetry explores the friction of the human condition and chronicles a late-in-life self-discovery, detailing the transition from a closed-off existence to a sudden expansion of the self.
A Black Box from Below Structured across five acts, this prose collection examines the stark contrast between the physical reality of street survival and the algorithmic control of modern society. It serves as a personal record of navigating the loss of autonomy, transitioning from the illicit economy to the role of a writer, and confronting the heavily managed atmosphere of the contemporary world.
The Book of Awakening This philosophical text explores the relationship between universal consciousness—the unconditioned Substrate—and the localized human experience. It outlines a practical method for liberation called "Editing," providing a framework for individuals to break deep-seated loops of trauma and addiction by manually inserting a pause into their automatic responses, thereby widening the space for free will.
